Palladio Concerto per archi Suite for Strings |
Italian viewers know Nino Rota’s music mainly from Fellini and Visconti’s films, and Slovak viewers can certainly quickly recall the music from The Godfather, with Marlon Brando and Al Pacino in the main roles. British royal court composer and Cambridge Singers founder John Rutter used melodies from four English folk songs in his playful Suite. The name referring to the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, who’s architecture inspired the composer Karl Jenkins from Wales during the musical construction, is the hallmark of the three-part concerto grosso. Proportions and mathematics are essential in music and architecture, and Palladio’s composition should prove this in practice.
The ageless and energetic Ewald Danel has been leading the Slovak Chamber Orchestra for more than two decades. In just a few days, the artistic ensemble and its artistic director will be presented to the French public in Paris.
