The recital by the Czech violin virtuoso Ivan Ženatý will take the audience through the historical development of the sonata form. Beethoven’s Sonata dedicated to Alexander I from the time of classicism will be a pendant to the impressionistic spheres of Claude Debussy. The concert will end with a work that was a wedding gift for the gifted violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. César Franck‘s sonata was premiered right after the delivery, that is, on the wedding day, when it was played by the enthusiastic groom Ysaÿe. The concert will feature prominent pianist and longtime director of the Slovak Philharmonic, Marian Lapšanský.
